Wife's Birthday
Unfortunately she has been sick over the past several days and that trend continued today. She was pretty wiped out most off the day so any birthday celebration was minor.
I made baked ziti as an early dinner for the family and some cheese bread. I think the ziti came out quite well with lots of cheesiness and with a meat sauce. That was her request for the meal since we were eating at home.
The girls made her birthday mini brownies and they also made her breakfast.
Other than that it was a stay at home and relax near the fire kind of day.
The aftermath
We had about 8-9 inches of snow dropped on us (saw weather channel report 8.6 here). Luckily it was the lighter snow as it has been VERY cold over the past 24 hours or so, has gotten into single digits with wind chill below zero.
That meant keeping the fire going all day (kept half of the house warm without the need for using the heater that is on that side of the house, the heater on the other side of the house has been working overtime but at least the fire helps with the propane bill). Still haven't needed to split the mega stump that I carried in, that will give us a couple days itself.
Unfortunately the aftermath of bringing in the mega stump left me with back issues today so I debated between working from home and taking the day off and decided for the latter.
The back issues didn't keep me from having to dig out as I took some on and off turns outside at digging out. As of this evening (just came back in again) I have a path to the one road cleared out (it was the shortest route but also had the biggest pain in the ass of an ending as I had to dig through where the road was plowed which means ice from the melt and refreeze.
Hopefully I can still move tomorrow morning as I still need to get the cars cleaned off and connect them to where I dug.
Preview
Looking through the calendar this month and I actually have a few plans this month. We have a poker night coming up (I'll give details about it on that day), an Eagles' playoff game to watch tomorrow (from the warmth of my den), the Wings home opener (and a 2nd home game as well), a business trip to Las Vegas, with one day stint in Reno and maybe another business trip to the Poconos (though hopefully I can support it from here).
Photos
Added this one because Google enhanced it from last night (got a message on my phone that a picture had been completed and this is what was done to it). Thought it was kind of cool.
Forgive the seeming blurriness but this was shot through a screen, that streak is a mark on the screen that I didn't notice at the time. Some of the aftermath this morning.
A little baked ziti with meat sauce (and lots of cheese):
