Introduction
I am EagleFan... or to add the appropriate internet faceless attitude and bravado... I am TheEagleFan. A very ordinary person who is a huge sports fan and a computer gaming geek. I have a wife and two wonderful (most of the time ;-) ) daughters. I work in the casino gaming industry and have done so for 20 years.
In attempting a Project 365 last year I ran into many problems. The least of which being that I had no idea what to photograph regularly. After following a good friend's P365 from last year (Evil Chicken) and his blog Chicken Scratch I have decided to change the plan just a little. I will blog, track my New Years Revolutions :-) and add photos to fill in the gaps.
Not all photos may be very interesting but will be small reminders to either help push me towards goals or give me small reminders of things that occurred during the year.
I have no idea where this journey will end but I hope to dedicate myself to making it happen. There are many milestones this year as my youngest turns 10 (my oldest turned 13 last year, our first official teen) and we reach our 20 year wedding anniversary later this year (hopefully I will have more to write about that as time nears).
The past two years have been rough as we moved into a new house (not so new house but new to us) and have since been hit with many bills. First the derecho of 2012 hit us and brought down (or tore in half) about 10 trees that we had to get taken down as the yard was not safe with trees hanging overhead. Unfortunately insurance would not cover it as it did not damage our property, the worst thing that happened was a crushed gate but that did not even hit the deductible.
This past year saw plumbing, septic and well pump issues. I am hoping that 2014 will allow us to begin doing things that we want to do, not frantically trying to get emergency repairs done.
Resolutions
I have gained way too much weight over the past several years. I need to cut back but so many of the foods that I like are so very bad for me. I am a realist and know that I won't be able to cut everything out but will have to look for portion control to be my best way to control weight. I would like to lose at least 26 pounds this year.
The other huge resolution is to stay on budget. It gets too easy sometimes to take the easy way out and decide to grab a bite to eat out instead of coming home and making something. Hopefully avoiding the quick eat out situations will also help with the first goal.
Finally, come up with something good (and within budget) for a way to celebrate our 20th anniversary this year. I have some ideas but will not show my hand yet as we first need to make certain that we can afford the idea. I am hoping this will be a good way to celebrate and the entire family will enjoy.
The final goal is to get myself to regularly see my cardiologist. I have a condition which can affect the heart and I see a specialist for that yearly at the University of Penn but I should also regularly see a cardiologist locally in between visits. The only reason I haven't is that time tends to fly quickly and I keep getting distracted from one thing to the next and the next thing I know several months have gone by and I still haven't made the appointment.
Conclusion
I will leave you with this quote for now: "Great men are like eagles and build their nest on some lofty solitude." - Arthur Schopenhauer

I love the color of the sky in this shot, Sir! I also love the fact that you're doing a blog (very cool, I might add) to showcase your steps through the New Year. You're gonna love it.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, Bro and here's to taking a few shots together!
